Quentin Frost

I studied to become a programmer, and was an early adapter to the computer age.  But I quickly found my artistic background led me to visual effects.  My attitude is to find a way to get things done, and it comes from the years of working with changing software and project scope.  Early work required us to think outside the box, as there was no documentation nor internet to source.  That mindset became a core driver of how I approach problems.

I’ve worked for many of the major studios in Los Angeles, including almost ten years at Sony Imageworks, another five at Disney Feature Animation, and a further round of positions at Dreamworks, Rythm and Hues,  Cinesite and others.  At R&H, our team won an Academy Award for Life of Pi.

In games, I’ve been both a cinematic lighter and lead, and I’m proud of our work to bring The Last of Us story to life.

I’ve worked with many proprietary pipelines.  I’ve been asked to create entire cinematic departments, and I have managed a wide swath of artists.  But my joy comes from telling our stories in amazing scenes.  Who leads is less important than what we create – and that is what drives me more than anything else.

I generally send this site out with resumes, but if you would like to reach me concerning work or commisions, message me on linkedin:

I spend a lot of time in developing my art skills, using inspiration to try new things.  If you would like to see a good cross sample, click on my sketch of The Monster.
